Attempted Murder – Knightswood

Detectives in Drumchapel are appealing for witnesses and continuing enquiries after a man was struck by a car in Knighstwood on Tuesday 8 January 2013.

Around 1230 hours on Tuesday afternoon, the 33 year-old man was walking in the car park behind Knighstwood shopping centre just off Anniesland Road, when he was struck by a silver BMW car that was deliberately driven at him.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to the Western Infirmary and received treatment for a hip fracture, then later released.

Detective Inspector Fil Capaldi of Drumchapel Police Office said today:

“This investigation is at an early stage and officers are currently studying CCTV footage and carrying out enquiries in the area to establish more information on this crime, although we believe that the man was specifically targetted.”

“The only information we have on the car involved at this time is that it was a silver BMW, either a 3 or 5 series saloon. At this stage, we have no information on who was in the car, but our ongoing enquiries should reveal more information.

“The area in and around the shopping centre is usually very busy with both pedestrians and motorists and I would urge any witnesses to the incident, or anyone who may have seen a car being driven erratically around the time of the incident to come forward to police as a matter of urgency.”
